The A-Z Of Me

The A-Z Of Me

I was tagged by Kate from Kate on Thin Ice in her blog here. Go check out her blog if you haven't already. She will make you think, smile, and laugh. I promise*

ANORAK…Do you have a sad side?
Yes, without a doubt, I am a GEEK!
I love my toys and tech.

BODY…What physical attribute would you most like to change?
All of it! I'm generally unhappy with it all...
If it has to be just one, my legs. Years of running and playing footie means that even if I was a size 10, my legs would still look like tree trunks.
At the moment, I'm not loving my pregnancy body. I just feel huge!
*edit* Although I'm comfortable and happy with my pregnancy body, this would be changed at the moment to my breasts. Or more specifically, my weight (my back size) as getting decent bras in ridiculously hard.

CELEBRITY…Which one would you most like to date and why?
I'm going to add visuals here...

DEBUT …Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?
I had a website that I used when I was freelancing, but after the depression and all, I started the blog just to add my ramblings. I did add some pieces from my old site, but my first major post on this new blog was:

I have mental health problems!

ERROR …What’s been your biggest regret?
I try not to have regrets. I believe that I will regret what I don't do, so always try to make my decisions based on that.
Everything I have done has made the person I have become. They may not be the choices I would make again though...

FUNNY – who’s making you laugh?
My nephew and nieces are funny and cute, and always make me laugh.
I like satirical and slapstick humour. Bremner, Bird & Fortune, Russell Howard, Family Guy, etc.
I don't 'get' Peter Kay or Gavin & Stacey, I haven't seen Phoenix Nights and have no desire to.

GRAND…If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?
Booking a last minute deal somewhere. I would love a holiday right now.

*edit* Now, it's all baby related buys! And maybe a nanny.

HOLIDAY… What’s your favourite destination?
I don't have a favourite destination, but my dream destination has always been the Maldives, I would love to go.

IRRITATE… What’s your most annoying habit?
My appalling time keeping! I am so late for everything.

JOKER…Whats your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh every time you hear it}?
A line from Family Guy when Lois becomes a fighter:

'Her fists are too lethal for her to be a lesbian'.

KENNEL… Do you have any pets?
I have Daz, my rescue dog I got in June 2006. We think he is a cross between a staffie & a Jack Russell.

*edit* I also have a small Jack Russell cross (with a rat or ferret maybe), called Tyson (?!), that I took in for 3 days in September 2010 whilst my M-I-L moved. I still have him...

LOVE…Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?
I am in the process of getting divorced, and am single.
My life is too complicated to involve a man right now. I'm pregnant and looking forward to being a mummy, albeit a single one.

MEAL… Whats your ultimate starter, main and dessert?
Brandy Cream Mushrooms, followed by a juicy (blue) steak, with all the trimming and peppercorn sauce.
Dessert would have to be the homemade Apple & cinnamon pie with custard and ice cream from Tyndrum Lodge.

NOW…If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?
I would be on my own, relaxing on a beach with a supply of books. I'm thinking white sandy beaches...

*edit* Is it bad I keep looking at those pictures and wishing for that peace?
At the moment, I want to be at home, curled up, reading or writing. I have various pieces I would like to finish before baby arrives, but if I don't, I'm sure I'll live.
Home also has the benefit of being a 15 minute taxi ride away from hospital, should she want to make an early appearance.

OFF DUTY…What do you do in your spare time?
I love reading and studying. Depression affects my concentration and memory though, so it takes me a lot longer than it used to.

*edit* I have recently tried audio books, as I cannot read a novel as easily as I used to. It's only early in the relationship, and although I don't think it is for me, I will keep trying a little longer, maybe another couple of dates, as I'm not the person I was and I guess I need to accept that before I chuck it in. I just don't feel as involved, I'm not transported to the place as easily. Maybe the writing, the reading, or most likely, my listening skills are poor!
I had to drop one of my courses early on this year, it was taking twice as much time and effort as the one that was double the points. It took me a while to accept that I cannot do it all anymore, no matter how hard I try. Immediately I felt better focusing on one course. Although that course has been a steep learning curve of what I can and cannot do too!

PROUD MOMENTS …What are you most proud of?
Completing the Great North Run will always be some thing I am proud of. I didn't complete it in a record breaking time, but I did complete it and raised money for Diabetes UK.
I am proud of my ability to stick to my principles and values, I will argue until the end of the world if I think I'm right.
*edit* Actually without being egotistical (I hope) I am thoroughly proud of myself. I have dealt with a shower of sh!t through my life, but I keep going.  This is something I'm learning to do, it's ongoing. I may never acknowledge and accept a lot of it, but I'm trying!

QUEASY …What turns your stomach?
People being sick around me. I mean physically, not ill.

*edit* During the first four months of my pregnancy, everything!

RELAX…How do you relax?
I like a good rant. An angry email can ease a lot of tension.
Listening to music.
Aromatherapy massages.
Photography.
My dogs (sometimes).
Being outside in nature.
Oh and Micheal Buble again.... *smiles*

SONG…Whats your favourite song of all time?
I have a lot of songs that remind me of occasions, not necessarily favourites:
  • Beatles - Help (walked down the aisle to)
  • RHCP - Under The Bridge (played whilst signing wedding register)
  • RHCP - By The Way (reminds me of my stepfather)
  • Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot (walked out of wedding to)
  • Shanks & Bigfoot - Sweet Like Chocolate (reminds me of working in Tyndrum)
  • Bob Marley - Three Little Birds (same)
  • Def Leppard - Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad? (Teenage Love *sigh*)
  • Def Leppard - Two Steps Behind (as above)
  • Queen - You're My Best Friend (played a mother's funeral)
  • Shed Seven - Chasing Rainbows (1st live band I saw)
  • Mike & The Mechanics - Another Cup Of Coffee (my coffee addiction)
  • Beautiful South - Your Father & I (just like the song)
  • Beautiful South - 36D (as above)
  • Beautiful South - Hold Me Close (Underground) (Reminds me of a friend that was in another lifetime)
  • Beautiful South - Hooligans Don't Fall in Love (Unrequited Love)

TIME …If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?
I would not go back and relive any of it. The Summer of 1995 was one of the best times of my life, great friends, some amazing gigs and festivals, but I am happy with the memories.

UNKNOWN…Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?
I used to swim for Leeds and was a synchronised swimmer as a child!

I have done Guerrilla grammar.
I am obsessed with Oxford commas.

VOCAL…. Who is your favourite artist?
Depends on my mood, my taste in music is eclectic. Anything from swing to heavy rock, via hip hop and some cheesy pop.

WORK….. What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?
I'm unemployed due to my health, and am studying a
Creative Writing course with the Open University.
I'm not sure where I'm going yet...

XRAY…Any broken bones?
Too many to mention, ankle, arm, vertebrae...

YIKES…What’s been your most embarrassing moment?
Again far too many. I am incredibly clumsy, I can fall over nothing and frequently do, so just imagine the consequences when I drink far too much!

ZOO…. If you were an animal, which one would you be?
My star sign is Cancer and I think the crab is a good description of me. A hard exterior but I am a softie inside.

  1. Fascinating to get to know you better via this meme. Thanks for doing it and saying sweet things about me too. Did you make up some of those wedding songs as in view of you getting divorced, they did make me giggle which I feel guilty about but wanted to be honest. Hoping the single life is just wonderful for you. Who needs men anyway?

  2. You are lovely so saying nice things is easy *smiles*
    I enjoyed doing this.
I didn't make up the wedding songs, they are genuine. I still have the original CD!
We had the JCB Song playing in the car on the way there too, just remembered that.
I am a fan of Jools Holland / Squeeze and my step-dad sang, I think, Up the Junction!
Were we doomed from the start! *laughs*
We wanted a wedding that wasn't overtly common, it was meant to make people smile and be memorable.
    So I appreciate the giggle.
I don't think anybody was really surprised at me not conforming...
    Life isn't wonderful but it's getting there...slowly.
